A businessman has discovered an old photo of him as a teenager that shows his shadow appearing to have a mind of its own – taken in his ‘haunted’ childhood home.
Conor Wright, 23, of Bexley, South-East London, took the picture of him standing in front of a mirror when he was aged 16 before heading out to a family party and posted it on Facebook.
But friends quickly pointed out that his shadow was ‘misbehaving’ and did not appear to match his pose, because his head appears tilted downwards and hand is in a different position.
And the foreign currency trader, whose grandfather was a medium, said: ‘I started getting lots of comments from friends who had noticed that the shadow didn’t match up to my pose in the picture.
‘They were all saying how freaky it was, and how it appeared like the shadow had a life of its own. I thought it was really bizarre as there was nothing else around me to have made that shadow.
‘The only thing near me was the banister, but that would long and tall and did not match the shape either. Even my head is at a different angle as the shadow.’
But Mr Wright, who moved out of the detached three-bedroom £500,000 home in 2012, added that he was not too surprised at the photo because ‘so many strange things happened in that house’.
He continued: ‘I would often hear strange, unexplained noises and regularly thought I could catch something in the corner of my eye – but it would be gone when I looked.
‘I would turn on taps to run a bath, look away for a moment and then they would be turned off despite no one else being there. It was quite a freaky place to grow up in as a young person.
‘Haunted’ home: Mr Wright, who moved out of the detached three-bedroom £500,000 home in 2012, said he was not too surprised at the photo because ‘so many strange things happened in that house’
‘I felt on edge quite a lot. However I have not experience anything unusual since leaving the house, which is odd. I have always been fascinated by the paranormal.
‘I know most of it is all hocus pocus and a lot of c*** but there were things that happened in that house, like this picture, that I just can’t explain. Perhaps it was haunted.’
Mr Wright still lives in the Bexley area but has not been back to the house since – much to the pleasure of some of his friends.
He added: ‘Some of my close friends had odd experiences when they came round and one of them even refused to stay over again after he heard the sound of someone coming up the stairs and into the bedroom when no one was there.
‘He was terrified. My grandfather was a medium before he died and so my mum is a big believer in this kind of thing so she agreed with me that something was not right about the house. However my dad and sister were sceptics and always said it was rubbish.’
