Losing a child is something a parent should never have to go through, but sometimes, it’s a grim reality. In this difficult time, people turn to many things for a source of comfort with one of the most common routes being faith.

For Sarah Danbury from Lincolnshire, U.K., faith offered her some comfort as she sat day in and day out by her daughter Amy’s bedside.

Amy, only 19 years old, was diagnosed with a rare form of liver cancer called fibrolamellar hepatocellular carcinoma. This rare cancer caused tumors rivaling the size of tennis balls to grow in Amy’s abdomen.

She underwent several chemotherapy treatments with her mother often by her side.

Moments later, as Amy and her mom looked at the photo, Amy said, “It’s my guardian angel.”

Sarah believed the photo captured something ethereal, as though an angel was watching over Amy during her final days.

Sadly, Amy passed away a mere three weeks after the photo was taken due to complications from her disease. But her mom fondly remembers that her daughter was fighting until the very end.

“She was such a brave girl,” Sarah said. “She wasn’t one to sit there crying, she was so strong-minded and a real fighter.”

As Sarah looks back on the photo, which was her last photo with her daughter, she feels some consolation.

“It gives me comfort seeing that picture because it makes me think there was someone there with Amy looking after her knowing it was coming to her time, you just don’t know.”
And thanks to the incredible snapshot, Sarah has something to help her get through this difficult time.

Best wishes to Sarah and her family.
