A new TV show has premiered in the U.S. which is so shocking and dark, that people are struggling to make it through the first episode.

Jessica Biel, best known for her roles in The Illusionist and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, returned to TV to critical acclaim in this eerie new drama called The Sinner.

The first episode, which debuted a couple of days ago, has already received a great reception- with the first episode scoring 92 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes and 7.7/10 on IMDB.

And according to Twitter, it appears that this show definitely isn’t for the faint-hearted. With some even tweeting that they struggled to make it through the first episode.

So what’s it about?

Well, the story surrounds young mother Cora Tannetti, who suffers from depression. She seems to lead a pretty normal life, until one day completely out of the blue, she stabs a man to death whilst out with her family on the beach.

Check out the trailer below:

From the first episode, it is learned that she has no relation to the man who she brutally killed as more questions emerge surrounding the unprovoked attack.

Why did she kill him? What provoked her? What forced her to snap and decide to kill a man in the middle of a busy beach?

Hopefully the eight episodes which make up the series will give us some answers.

The show is based on a best-selling German novel by Petra Hammesfahr, with Biel describing it as “dark“. The phrase ‘no shit’ springs to mind.

It definitely looks like one to watch!
