A Florida man was convicted of murder in May, and during a recent court appearance, he actually dared the judge to give him the death penalty. The jury had found James Herard guilty of murdering two people at a Dunkin Donuts in 2008 and recommended the death penalty in his case.

Herard got to speak in court this past Friday, and said to the judge, “Go ahead and do what you gonna do. I pretty much dare you to give me the death sentence because I’m innocent.”

And here’s how confident he is: “I’m actually hoping you give me the death penalty because I know the Supreme Court won’t allow me to die for something I didn’t commit.”

This actually isn’t the first odd performance of Herard’s in court. When he appeared in court to face accusations over the Dunkin Donuts robbery in 2008, Herard literally barked like a dog at the judge.
